Wild Weekend

So a few weeks ago, a Denise and I decided to go to Nashville to visit the temple of my patron goddess, Athena. In more simpler terms, we wanted to visit the Parthenon in Tennessee. And we decided that last Saturday would be the day. I got Kendrick, Kento, and even Yukari to come along. It was a metric shit-ton of fun, even though we were on the road for a total of about 10 hours (Google Maps said 12, so I was able to cut the time by 15%!) The trip was straining and I was a bit worried about keeping everyone enthusiastic (visiting a life-sized replica of the Parthenon is random no matter how you spin it), but I know that everyone had a great time! My pictures are on facebook, in case anyone wanted to see.

The Nashville Parthenon there is "the only life-sized replica of" the Greek Parthenon. Inside, there's a huge statue of the goddess Athena gilded in gold. There are a ton of sculptures of the human form and of many other gods of Greek mythology. Educational? Maybe not so much. But fun and interesting? By the hammer of Thor, yes.

Since we were on the road for 10 hours, we saw a lot of beautiful scenery and encountered a couple of very interesting landmarks. The first one was this gigantic white cross. If you want info on it, visit www.crossusa.org to see what it looked like. This thing was huge! And secondly, we encountered billboards pointing to a town called "Metropolis" that has a "Giant Superman statue." We just couldn't resist this sight, so I took the exit and found the statue. It was ridiculously awesome hahaha!

A lot of pictures were put up on facebook, and my roommate hasn't even uploaded his yet. I'm not going to post them here though, since I think anyone who reads this already has facebook.

In other news, I finally beat Patapon. It was a great game and totally worth $20. To fill my void of fun and new games, I decided to spoil myself and bought both Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core AND God of War: Chains of Olympus at one time. I'm currently playing GoW, and man - it is good. Not very smart as I promised myself to be productive again...haha

Jackpot!

One of my blog subscriptions on Google Reader is J-Rock 4U. It's really good because it's got all sorts of jrock for download.

This morning, I found the entire hide discography on the blog. Needless to say, I downloaded the entire thing. Along with all the videos, the blog is the best hide resource I've found to date. Jawesome!

Also, in the confusion of spring break, I forgot about HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR's new album release, ROCK PIT. I got that from J-Rock 4U too. There are some really good tracks on it, IMO. And having Rosier on the album is a HUUUUUUGE plus+++++.

I love HaiKara and hide. Yay.

Army of Two

On Friday night, I was musing with my friend regarding what we should do about dinner. Originally, we were going to go out to eat, but we ultimately decided on being guys about it. So we ordered pizza and then went out to buy Army of Two, with the intention of beating it in one sitting.

We started playing at about 11 PM, and I didn't get back to my room until 8:30 AM. The game isn't great, but the whole point of it is really to shoot up bad guys with one other friend and have a great time. And that we did. I even went back earlier and played it over again with a few other people. Haha Spring break well spent.

I'm In Love [but in a Healthy and Logical Sense]

During this summer break, I got into watching 30 Rock, an NBC sitcom created by and starring Tina Fey. I've loved Tina Fey ever since I saw her on SNL. Even though she wasn't in that many sketches, I always loved what I saw in her. She's smart, beautiful, witty, clever, and funny. Such a combination of qualities are so rare to find in a woman! I absolutely love her for everything that she is, without claiming to be a know-it-all fan or attempted stalker.

Also, 30 Rock is friggin' awesome. This role was literally written for Tina Fey. Alec Baldwin is spectacular. Tracy Morgan and Jack McBrayer are just absolutely hilarious. I recommend it to anyone who has a sense of humor.

"Finish" Strong

The other day, I was working out with my friend, and we got a REALLY good chest workout on the bench presses. After a while, we decided to do pyramids, where he does 5, 10, 15, and 20 push-ups and I match him each time. Well, it turned out that neither of us were able to even do the first 5 due to muscle failure. Haha...it was like one of the lowest and highest points in my life at the same time.

Yesterday, I did some thinking, and I realized that I've been playing CS way too much. With less than a week left until spring break, I decided to "finish" strong until then. Of course, whatever I decided to do afterwards is up in the air...haha.

Alllllmost there...

So, the car that my project team is building is almost done...And by almost, I mean maybe a week away from becoming functional. It's a very exciting time, since we all worked really hard on it. And now we're putting the systems on the chassis. I was just in the shop, and right now, it looks like there's a rail gun mounted on the back of the car - hahaha.

I had okonomiyaki with J-Net yesterday, and it was sooooo good. I'm not going to have many opportunities to enjoy myself with my college friends as I did yesterday, which makes me =/.

Lastly, I shamefully admit that I have not been keeping up with my workout schedule for about 1.5 weeks. I know that's soooo bad. But I've been kind of swamped with work on all sides, as well as the weather making me feel not-in-the-mood. With spring break coming up, I don't even know when I'll be able to start back up...Damnit.

Wisdom of the Day

I was talking to a friend of mine online:
"cuz [the gym] gets crowded after 3
spring break is coming up and the fat girls need to lose weight"

I never would've realized otherwise.

Games Games Games!

So, this week has been a bit ridiculously game-filled. First, Patapon finally came out on the 26th, but I didn't get mine until the 27th. They say it takes about 15 hours to finish, and I've already put in about 12. The game is amazingly complex and I think the game reviews do a good job of describing it. It's sort of...easily difficult. I say that because it is very easy to lose battles, but you get to start right back up again right after. It's very nice to have that.

Last night, I went to my friend's house and downloaded a few demos. Devil May Cry 4 on the PS3, and God of War: Chains of Olympus and the Harvey Birdman demo for PSP. I really enjoyed all of the. I only played the first DMC, but I really liked it. DMC3 looks to be very cool (I want Dante's hair). Actually, GoW also looks VERY GOOD. I can't wait...another game to save up for. Harvey Birdman was hilarious to play too, but I'm not a fan of the show.

A couple friends from home came to visit for the weekend too, so there were quite a few people in the house. I later realized just how spoiled Asian kids are. Haha

Let's see...between the 8 people in the house, we had:
- 11 computers (9 laptops, 2 built/gaming rig-desktops)
- a 4-car garage, but 6 cars (4 of which were of "luxury make")
- 5 television sets (all ranging between 25 and 50 inches, 3 of which were hi-def)
- 4 iPhone owners (3 iPhones were actually present)
- 6 different video game systems (GC, Wii, 360, PS3, PSP, DS)

I know this is an extreme case, but I still find it very hard to believe that this kind of consumption can be found among the others on campus.
